BIO

Born in Hong Kong and educated in Australia, Finland, France, and the United States, I bring a strongly international perspective to my partnership leadership. research and teaching. As Associate Dean (Partnerships and International) in Deakin University’s Faculty of Arts and Education, I lead the Faculty’s international strategy and develop partnerships across universities, cultural institutions, industry, and government to expand student opportunity, strengthen research collaboration, and deepen Deakin’s global engagement.

I am an internationally recognised scholar of film and screen media. My research spans women and transnational film history, feminist performance studies, archives, cultural memory, immersive media, and creative technologies. I have published more than 80 scholarly works, including five edited collections and two monographs: Seeing Sarah Bernhardt: Performance and Silent Film, winner of a CHOICE Outstanding Academic Title Award, and Transnational Trailblazers of Early Cinema, published open access by the University of California Press with support from the Selig Endowment Fund. My work has been translated into French, Italian, and Chinese, and I have held fellowships and visiting appointments across Australia, Europe, and the United States.

From 2023 to 2026, I was Co-Director of the Deakin Motion Lab, helping develop it into a major interdisciplinary research hub supporting more than $6 million in research and industry projects. I was the first scholar based outside Europe and North America to serve as President of Women and Film History International and am a founding editorial board member of Feminist Media Histories.

I welcome contact from universities, cultural organisations, industry, government, and community partners seeking to develop international research, teaching, mobility, transnational education, and creative collaborations with Deakin University’s Faculty of Arts and Education.
