BIO

Dr William Yeoh is an associate professor at Deakin Business School. His current research interests encompass business intelligence & analytics, cybersecurity, metaverse, blockchain, AI, and IS. His scholarly work has been published in leading journals, with 8 A* and 27 A-ranked ABDC journal publications, as well as in all top Information Systems (IS) conferences (ICIS, HICSS, ECIS, AMCIS, PACIS, ACIS). His scholarship has been supported by over $2.3M from various grant bodies (including CAT1) and industry (e.g., IBM). Additionally, he has successfully supervised 7 doctoral candidates to completion, with one being a finalist for the Alfred Deakin Best PhD Thesis Medal. His expert opinions have been featured on national news outlets e.g., ABC Radio, SBS News, The Australian Financial Review, The New Daily, etc.

His excellence in teaching, research, and service has been recognised with several awards, including the ICT Educator of the Year Gold Award (a national award presented by the Australian Computer Society ACS - Australia's premier ICT professional association and accreditation body), two-time internationally competitive IBM Faculty Awards (an honor rarely bestowed upon Australian-based academics), Deakin's Vice-Chancellor Award for Value Innovation (in recognition of his outstanding leadership for the IBM Centre of Excellence in Business Analytics at Deakin), Australian Information Security Association's (AISA) Researcher of the Year finalist, Deakin's Faculty Excellence in Research Award, and internationally competitive Best Learning Experience Design Award-Top 3 Finalist (an international award presented by Open Learning ASX:OLL).

At Deakin, he has served as the Co-Director for the faculty's Business and Technology research theme, Course Director, Director of the IBM Centre of Excellence in Business Analytics, and the department's Director of International, Director of Industry Engagement, and Director of Teaching. During his tenure as Director of Teaching, he led the successful accreditation of Australia's first Master of Business Analytics program by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). In partnership with the ACS, he co-leads the Deakin-ACS Partnership to help enhance students' employability and career development.

He was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Ottawa (Telfer School of Management) and a Visiting Professor at the University of Indonesia. He currently serves as a Research Advisor at the University Tunku Abdul Rahman Malaysia (UTAR). He previously served as the Deputy Dean (R&D and Postgraduate Programs) at UTAR's Faculty of ICT, where he established the PhD and Master's research programs in 2009. He is a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
