Assoc. Prof. Natalie Saunders is currently the Director of the Deakin Sport Performance Hub. She lectures into the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology degree and works as a practicing Accredited Exercise Physiologist within the Deakin Clinical Exercise Learning Centre. In 2022, Assoc. Prof. Natalie Saunders was named a Female Leader in Exercise & Sport Science by Exercise Sport Science Australia for her contribution to the sector across teaching and research.
With a background in sport and Physical Education, and specialising as an AEP in musculoskeletal health, she has a passion for promoting lifelong engagement in sport and exercise across the lifespan. She is an active researcher in neuromuscular control of the lower limb, women in sport and exercise and high-performance sport. She has supervised a number of Honours and PhD students to timely completion with ongoing supervision of current research students. She is a past co-director for the Centre for Sport Research and co-facilitator for the Deakin Women in Sport and Exercise (WISE) hub with a particular passion advocating for women in sport.
Assoc. Prof. Natalie Saunders is also the inaugural Chair of the National Sport Research Agenda Advisory Group facilitated by the Australian Sports Commission. The NSRA AG is a cross-industry advisory group working to enhance sport sector consensus on sport research priorities to promote the value and benefits of sport to all Australians.
Assoc. Prof. Natalie Saunders is a member of the Centre for Sport Research (CSR) within the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) at Deakin.
