BIO

Dr Vicki Brown is a Senior Research Fellow within Deakin Health Economics (DHE) at Deakin University, Melbourne Australia and a member of the Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition (GLOBE).

Vicki has qualifications and experience in health economics, public health prevention, project management and quantitative and qualitative research methods. Vicki's work focuses on the economics of chronic disease, and she employs complex economic methods to better understand the cost-effectiveness of prevention and treatment interventions. Vicki is establishing a strong track record in the economics of public health, leading the health economics streams (as CI) on several Category 1 grants, including a NHMRC CRE, Ideas grant, Project grant, two Partnership projects, an MRFF grant and an ARC Linkage grant. Vicki was a key contributor to the National Health and Medical Research Council funded Centre of Research Excellence in Obesity Policy and Food Systems, and is a Chief Investigator on the Centre of Research Excellence in Translating the Early Prevention of Obesity in Childhood (CRE EPOCH-Translate).

She is interested in the ways in which economic evaluation and priority-setting studies can better inform the decision-making process, and is involved in teaching in the Deakin University Master of Health Economics as Unit Chair of the Economics and Health Policy Analysis unit (HSH766).
