BIO
Liz completed her PhD in palaeontology at Deakin University and is now a senior lecturer in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences. Liz is also involved in the development of the School's international teaching and research profile in her role as Associate Head of School (International). Liz travels to Wuhan annually to teach in the Sino Foreign Partnership Program with Hubei University.
From 2004-2006 Liz was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at China University of Geosciences, Wuhan. Liz continues to collaborate on research with colleagues at CUG in the State Key Laboratory of Biogeology and Environmental Geology and School of Earth Sciences, and at the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology (CAS). Liz's primary research interests are on the systematics, palaeobiogeography and palaeoecology of Permian brachiopods, molluscs and conulariids. In September 2024 Liz will commence in the role of Chair of the International Commission on Stratigraphy, Subcommission on Permian Stratigraphy, and is a current member of the Gondwana and Euroamerican Correlations Working Group.
Liz also works collegially with Museum staff and Deakin colleagues to provide supervision of a broad range of micro-, macro- and mega- fauna palaeontology-based projects, and has an interest in quantitative approaches to geoconservation.
