BIO

For the last 20 years, I have worked as an Academic within several industrial research and development (R&D) laboratories across a range of industrial companies. My core skills include systems mapping, process modelling, data analytics, general engineering know-how, program and stakeholder management across a wide variety of manufacturing, engineering and technical fields. My strength is the ability to think through challenges and find new and novel solutions to current problems.

Since 2019 to the present day, I have managed research projects developing key technologies for design assessment of new composite manufacturing facilities. This included building Agent-based models, decision support tools, photorealistic 3D digital twins and optimisation technology. Research projects have been completed with Carbon Revolution, Boeing Australia and Quickstep Holdings.

In 2018, I managed a project looking at digital technology disruption in the Australian Railway sector and developed a technology route map called Smart Rail. I was responsible for running workshops, managing the various stakeholders and synthesising the various ideas into a final report, including a series of actionable initiatives.

I completed my PhD in 2018, using data mining techniques to extract process models from data. I also completed a Master of Engineering, using simulation tools to model factory dynamics with Deakin University in 2001.

As part of the CAST CRC, which specialised in metal manufacturing, I completed several major research projects and managed one program for CAST. During my career I have worked on research projects with many manufacturing-based companies, including Ford Australia, Nissan Casting, Rio Tinto Bell Bay, Bosch, Pacifica, Godfrey-Hirst, and a range of Small to Medium sized Enterprises.

Prior to the Cast CRC, I have worked in inventory management, production planning and control at Ajax Fasteners, performed automation development engineering and production duties at BlueScope Steel and started my career working in industrial R&D at BHP Research Labs in Melbourne.
