Claire Henderson-Wilson is Associate Professor in health promotion and
planetary health, Leader of the Health, Nature and Sustainability Research
Group and Discipline Leader for the Health, Environment and Society team in
the School of Health and Social Development. Claire has a background in family
health and consumer studies and prior to commencing her PhD, worked in an Adult
Training and Support Service for adults with a mild to moderate intellectually
disability. Claire has twenty years' experience conducting people-environment
research, predominantly using qualitative methods, and she provides oversight and
leadership on a number of research projects on how people-environment relationships
influence health and wellbeing. Specifically, her research focuses on the relationships
between housing and health; families, environments and health; the human health
benefits of contact with nature (including animal assisted interventions) and the impacts
of environmental change (i.e. climate change) on people’s health and wellbeing.
Through her various roles, Claire liaises with external partners to enhance
graduate learning outcomes and foster community partnerships. Additionally,
Claire regularly peer-reviews submitted manuscripts to national and
international journals.
