BIO
Kazem is an expert in topology and structural optimisation. His research
interests also includes using sustainable and recycled material in
construction. Before joining Deakin in 2016, he was a Lecturer at USQ. He has
also taught at RMIT and Victoria University. He completed his undergraduate
and master's degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Tehran, Iran and
obtained a PhD in civil engineering from RMIT, Melbourne in 2009.
Kazem is a Senior Lecturer in civil engineering at the School of Engineering
in Deakin University based at Waurn Ponds Campus. Before joining Deakin in
2016, he was a Lecturer in civil engineering at USQ. He has also taught at
RMIT and Victoria University.
Kazem completed his undergraduate and master's degree in civil engineering at
the University of Tehran, Iran. He obtained a PhD in civil engineering from
RMIT, Melbourne.

* Topology optimisation considering manufacturing constraints, particularly additive manufacturing.
* Lightweight structures
* Designing and optimising connections
* Timber structures, particularly cross laminated timber (CLT)
