BIO

Seamus Delaney (PhD SFHEA) is a Senior Lecturer in Science and Technology Education, and Science, Technology, Environmental Education (STEE) Discipline Head, responsible for co-ordinating STEE units across Deakin University's cloud and physical campuses. He is the Socio-Ecological Nexus strand leader within Deakin's Centre for for Regenerating Futures, and an elected member of Deakin Strategic Research centre, Research for Educational Impact (REDI). He co-founded Elements of Sustainable Chemistry (https://eschemistry.org), an interdisciplinary group with other Deakin Science researchers.

Seamus has worked as a educator, researcher and leader in both Australia and Switzerland over his last 15 years. Seamus' research interests are chemistry education, systems thinking teaching and learning approaches, sustainability education, the incorporation of augmented and virtual reality into teaching and learning, and science education in out-of  school/informal learning contexts. He serves on a number of boards, committees and working groups that align with his research agenda, such as the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) Green and Sustainable Chemistry National Division, and the International Organisation of Chemical Sciences in Development (IOCD), where he is just been elected Secretary (from 2025). Seamus is also Editor (Oceania) of the journal Chemistry Teacher International.
