BIO

Dr. Kim Way is a Lecturer in the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at Deakin University and clinician researcher in the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN). They bring over 10 years of clinical experience as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, predominately in the public healthcare setting in cardiac rehabilitation and hold a position as an Affiliate Researcher at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Prior to joining Deakin, Dr. Way completed an international Postdoctoral Fellowship at Canada's largest and foremost cardiovascular research institute, the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. They are an emerging international leader in their research field of exercise physiology for cardiometabolic diseases which was recognised by receiving the prestigious Alfred Deakin Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (2022-2024). Dr. Way has secured >$1 million in funding as a chief investigator with ~$300K as the principal investigator to support their research program. This includes prestigious funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. 


Dr. Way is deeply committed to serving the scientific and professional communities where they hold several leadership roles including: i) Exercise and Sports Science Australia's (ESSA) Publication Committee; ii) the Canadian Association for Cardiovascular Prevention & Rehabilitation Exercise Guidelines Working Group; iii) Associate Editor-in-Chief for Exercise, Sport & Movement; iv) Associate Editor for JSAMS Plus.
