Dr Stuart Warmington is the Associate Head of School (Teaching and Learning)
for the Sport/Exercise science suite of courses delivered within the School of
Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, Deakin University, Australia. To this role Dr
Warmington brings five years experience as course director of the Bachelor of
Exercise and Sport Science programme, and many prior years of experience as a
University academic, researcher and leader at both Deakin University and
Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. Dr Warmington trained at the University of
Melbourne as a muscle physiologist examining cellular aspects of muscle
fatigue. His research is now focused on applications of exercise for the
betterment of health, in particular blood flow restriction exercise. In
addition, Dr Warmington is actively engaged in research in the field of
recovery from exercise and using heart rate metrics to examine the physiology
of recovery, sleep, and how these impact on athletic performance and
wellbeing. As such, Dr Warmington is also an active researcher and a member of
the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN).
