BIO
The broad focus of my research is skill acquisition and expert performance in a variety of domains (sport, cycling, driving), with a particular interest in examining and enhancing anticipation and decision-making skills using field-based methods and innovative technologies (e.g., Virtual Reality). I am currently supervising multiple Honours and PhD students, and welcome inquiries from prospective students motivated in advancing their knowledge and skills in this area of research.
I am from the UK and joined Deakin University in 2022 as a Lecturer in Sport Coaching within the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. I am a member of Deakin’s Centre for Sport Research (CSR) within the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN). I completed my PhD at Liverpool John Moores University (UK) in 2015. The title of my PhD was 'Conditions of Practice for Perceptual-Cognitive Simulation Training in Sport'. While completing my PhD, I worked part-time for Everton Football Club as a 1st team performance analyst and with the scouting and recruitment team. In 2015, I took up a position at Brunel University London as a Lecturer in Cognition and Neuroscience within the Division of Sport, Health, Exercise Sciences. I continue to work with colleagues in the UK and across the world to produce internationally recognised research.
