Dr Acelya Altuntas is a Senior Lecturer in the Economics Discipline Group at the Deakin Business School. Acelya is a microeconomist and her research focuses on the problem of allocating resources and the design of allocation rules. She is specifically interested in resources which are not divisible.

Acelya completed her PhD at the University of Rochester in the USA, under the supervision of Professor William Thomson.

Associate Professor Daniel Avdic is a health economist and applied econometrician at the Department of Economics, Deakin University. He holds a PhD from Uppsala University in Sweden and worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Economics, Monash University prior to joining Deakin. Daniel's research interests comprise topics relating to health system efficiency and the behaviour of healthcare providers. Daniel's research has appeared in leading general interest economics journals, including the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy and the European Economic Review, and top field journals, such as the Journal of Health Economics, Labour Economics and the Journal of Applied Econometrics. He was recently awarded a three-year Discovery grant from the Australian Research Council to work on a research project on physician preferences for medical innovations.

Dr. Omar Bashar is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Deakin Business School. His research focuses on Applied Macroeconomics, with a special interest in the Australian economy. His recent studies have explored issues such as the housing market and the resource boom in Australia. Dr. Bashar's work has been published in prestigious academic journals, including the Journal of Macroeconomics, Economic Modelling, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Accounting and Finance, and the Economic Record. At Deakin, he has taught a variety of courses, including Macroeconomics, Energy and Environment and Quantitative Methods in Economics and Finance. He has also held roles as Economics Discipline Coordinator, Director of Teaching in Economics, and Deputy Course Director for Bachelor of Business. He earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Melbourne.

Dr. Prasad S. Bhattacharya is an empirical economist working in the area of political economy and development. Prasad uses regional, within-country archival, census and survey data to investigate finer nuances of human and group conflict focusing on topics like land reform, inequality, financial development, ethnic distance, bridal payment, and forced displacement. He has published a number of papers in top field-specific and highly acclaimed journals like the Journal of Development Economics, European Economic Review, Journal of Macroeconomics, Journal of Forecasting, International Journal of Foreccasting, Journal of International Money and Finance, Economic Modelling, and World Economy. His research has been cited in top A** journal like Journal of Financial Economics, top 10 A* journal like the Review of Economics and Statistics as well as top journal like Energy Economics, Macroeconomic Dynamics and Journal of Macroeconomics.

Prasad is a Research Associate in the Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis (CAMA), Australian National University, Canberra, Australia.

Francesco Carli is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics in Deakin Business School. Francesco completed his PhD in Economics at Washington University in 2013. He joined Deakin University in October of 2015.

Francesco's research interests are in macroeconomics and monetary economics, contract theory, financial institutions and services. His recent papers analyse the role of the payment system on the flow of information in credit markets, the aggregate consequences of credit market imperfections, the efficient design of group loan contracts.

Francesco's teaching interests are in macroeconomic theory, financial intermediation and banking, decision making under uncertainty, and information
economics.

I am a dedicated PhD student specializing in Education, Labor Market, and Welfare Economics. My passion lies in exploring the intricate ways government policy changes and interventions impact education, the labor market, and household welfare. I am deeply committed to identifying and addressing gaps in our understanding of these dynamics, with the goal of contributing to evidence-based policies that enhance the well-being of communities.

I’m an applied micro-econometrician and a computational economist working in the field of structural estimation of dynamic models of individual and strategic choice, with applications to labor economics, public economics, durable goods markets, household finance, industrial organization and dynamic games.

Dr Hao Jia is a Lecturer in the Department of Economics in Deakin Business School. Hao is interested in a wide range of applied and theoretical topics in game theory and political economy.

Umair holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Rochester and has previously held positions at the University of Adelaide and the Monash Business School. His research focuses on social issues of policy interest in the areas of health economics, political economy, and the economics of crime. His work has appeared in leading economics journals such as the Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Urban Economics, and Journal of Health Economics.
