BIO

Dr Ashlee Curtis is a Senior Lecturer within the School of Psychology and Lifespan Institute at Deakin University. Ashlee is Co-Director of the Aggression stream within the centre for Relationships, Trauma, Addiction, & Aggression.

Ashlee's research is focussed on the factors that contribute to, maintain, and exacerbate children's use of aggressive and violent behaviour in the home, and the use of this behaviour across the lifespan. This includes the child and caregivers cognitive functioning, experiences of trauma, and substance use. In particular, Ashlee is interested in identifying evidence-based interventions to support families who experience aggressive and violent behaviour. Ashlee's research identifies relevant factors for aggression and violence intervention to consider and address and ways to improve engagement with intervention to reduce aggressive and violent behaviour.

Ashlee works closely with community and clinical services to ensure all her research is practical and translatable, and to inform evidence-based practice at these services.

Ashlee is a consulting editor for the journal Psychology of Violence, and is an elected council member and co-chair of the New Investigator program for the International Society for Research on Aggression.
