Associate ProfessorDarci Taylor

Darci is an Associate Professor and Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, Academic Capability. She leads Deakin’s Teaching and Learning Academy and is responsible for shaping and advancing academic capability across Deakin by providing expert leadership in teaching and learning practice, professional learning and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Previously, Darci was Director, Learning Design within Deakin Learning Futures, leading a multi-disciplinary team to provide strategic, academic and operational leadership in curriculum and learning design to support the university's strategic agenda.

She has led university-wide projects to transform learning and teaching delivery aligned to Deakin's values that support students to thrive. In 2025 Darci led the project to develop Deakin's new assessment model to leverage the opportunities and challenges afforded by generative AI, resulting in the creation of the Empowering-Developing-Assuring Assessment Framework.

In 2021-2022 she led the project that developed Deakin's learning and teaching principles and practices that underpin Deakin's distinct model of digital education post-COVID. From 2018-2021 she was the academic lead for the CloudFirst Project that established Deakin's approach to online and integrated learning.

Darci is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and recipient of multiple Vice Chancellor’s Awards for Teaching and Learning Excellence.
