Professor - Signals and Systems

 

Shady Mohamed is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Intelligent Systems Research and Innovation (IISRI), Deakin University. His expertise lies at the intersection of autonomous systems, human-on-the-loop control architectures, human performance analysis, and advanced motion simulation. His research focuses on integrating AI-driven autonomy with robust human oversight to maximise operational safety, effectiveness, and trust in complex environments. His work has contributed to the development of cutting-edge technologies for real-time decision support, adaptive automation, and resilient human–machine teaming.

He has successfully led and delivered high-impact research programs in partnership with major defence, emergency services, and industry stakeholders across Australia. As Chief Investigator and Project Lead on several national-scale initiatives, he has shaped the design and deployment of advanced technology platforms that address real-world challenges in defence operations, disaster response, and autonomous systems integration.
