DrPaul Turner

Dr Paul Turner is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management in Deakin Business School. Prior to joining Deakin University in 1995, he worked in Women's Soccer (National), State Soccer and State Touch sporting Associations. He was also a school teacher in Perth between 1989 and 1992 teaching in Physical Education, Science and Maths. He was the Competition Coordinator for Melbourne Football for the Sydney Olympic Broadcasting Organisation (SOBO) during the 2000 Olympic Games. He was also a recipient of the Australian Sports Medal in 2000.

His qualifications include a PhD from Deakin University, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Edith Cowan University, A Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) from Western Australian College of Advanced Education and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Sport Studies) from Canberra College of Advanced Education.

Dr Turner has a list of publications that include 1 book, 5 book chapters, 18 refereed journal publications and in excess of 40 conference papers. Research grants include the SMARTPLAY Research and Evaluation Project completed in 2009 to 2010. His research interests include sport media, sport facility and events and sport sociology. He has also acted as a guest reviewer for many journals in the sport area.
