BIO
I specialize in sustainability issues relevant to energy, environment, and climate. I implement experiments and panel data econometric models to study the causes and consequences of human behaviors related to energy and the natural environment to design and evaluate policy interventions. My research is in three domains at the intersection of energy, environment, and health: household energy transitions, health impacts of energy, and behavioral and policy interventions in climate change adaptation. I teach Energy, Environment, and Sustainability; Business and Climate Change; Environmental Economics and Creating Values for Sustainable Business Practice at the postgraduate (MBA) and undergraduate levels. I have developed micro-credentials on Environmental Cost Benefit Analysis, National Environmental Accounting, Forecasting, and Predictive Modelling.
I was a Principal Investigator of a range of projects supported by competitive external funding from the World Bank, Asian Disaster Preparedness
Centre, Bangladesh Climate Trust Fund, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Australian Bureau of Statistics, Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia, UNICEF and World Vision. As a representation of my impactful research in energy and environment, I am listed by RePec among the world's Top 5% Authors in Economics and Finance. In addition to publishing in top-tier field journals, my research have informed public policies to the governments of Australia, Bangladesh, China, and Indonesia. I have a strong media presence in national and international media outlets from Australia (The Australian and The Observer), Indonesia (Surabaya Pagi), India (The Business Standard) and Bangladesh (The Daily Star). I have experience in facilitating policy workshops and events in the context of developed and developing countries like Australia, Indonesia, and Bangladesh. I offered keynote speeches at national and international policy events organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change-Bangladesh & Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (2022); Bangladesh Institute of Governance & Management (2022); Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia (2019). In 2012, I presented a policy paper regarding Bangladesh's journey toward a cleaner energy future at the Bangladesh Institute for International and Strategic Studies which eventually facilitated the drafting of Bangladesh's first renewable energy policy in 2018. My international recognition led me to facilitate a session on carbon sinks at the UNPRME Carbon Literacy training organized by Nottingham Business School in December 2020.
