DrSarah Pinto

I am a dedicated and passionate university educator with extensive experience in unit design and delivery and a track record of success with a wide range of students. Since my appointment at Deakin in 2014 I have chaired and taught into units across all undergraduate levels at our Burwood, Geelong, Warrnambool and Online campuses. These have included units in my own discipline of History, as well as those with wider cohorts of students, including the two units I currently chair: AIX160 Introduction to University Studies, which is a general elective open to all Deakin undergraduate students, and AIH383 Global Disasters, which is a history unit with broad appeal to students across the University as a level-three elective. I have a particular interest in unit design that is informed by the needs of particular student cohorts, including through the development of student-centred feedback and assessment, for which I have won teaching awards (at Monash and La Trobe Universities).

I am also an experienced supervisor (and associate supervisor) of Honours, Masters and Doctoral students in a range of research areas, including in Australian history, public and popular history, and histories of gender and sexuality.
