TEACHING EXPERTISE
Teaching has always been a fundamental part of my career. In my decade as Head of School (then Foundation Head or Dean equivalent) of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School introduced new courses and majors and expanded majors to our Burwood campus; offered the University’s first MOOC in humanitarian disasters (with courses now being offered on the FutureLearn platform); expanded Deakin's contract with the Australian Defence Force, with more courses being offered and an increase in Deakin staff members employed in Canberra; forged a dual award partnership with Brandenburg University; co-established the Centre for Humanitarian Leadership; and introduced a Francophone Graduate Certificate of Humanitarian Leadership which was a groundbreaking achievement in offering a course in a foreign language.
In addition, I have supervised over 20 PhD candidates to completion and enjoy the important work of supporting the development of the next generation of leaders in research and practice.
