BIO
Dr Achinto Roy is a Senior Lecturer within the Management Discipline at Deakin Business School. He holds a PhD in Management from the University of Canterbury (NZ). He is a current member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand. Achinto has published research in highly ranked journals such as Business Ethics Quarterly (A rank), Business History (A* rank), Studies in Higher Education (A rank). His research interests are in the areas of Business ethics, Corruption in international business, trade development, international mobility studies of students, academics and institutions.
He authored a report on trade development opportunities between Australia and India supported by a research grant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). The report has been published by ICAI. The report was presented virtually before the then Secretary of Commerce and officials from the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, and the Research Committee, ICAI.
Achinto possesses over three decades of business, professional, consulting and investment experience as a Chartered Accountant spanning different countries.He has held board memberships of closely held companies, trusts and education institutions in India, NZ, Middle East and Australia.
He has a track record of achieving excellent student ratings in all modes of teaching including MBA residential programs and executive education. He is highly focused on student engagement and has organised a number of student global mobility and exchange programs with institutions in France, Hungary, Indonesia, Japan, Sweden and Vietnam.
Achinto has held external pro bono positions by invitation namely, member of the ICAI Doctoral Scholarship Committee (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi, 2023, the Board of Studies for PhD at the Sardar Patel University of Police, Security and Criminal Justice 2021-23 and visiting faculty at the Hanoi Business School, Vietnam National University 2019-21. At Deakin, he has contributed in various service roles, such as Director International- Department of Management (Jan 2015 to 2021), Dean's Envoy for Internationalisation (July 2012-Jan 2015), Chair of the Faculty Human Ethics Group (2016-2017), Member of Faculty Human Ethics Group (2011-2017), Member of University Ethics Committee (2016-2017) and Member of Faculty Academic Board (2013-2015).
