Helen's passion is building intercultural competence.  As such, her research experience has been in fostering mutual understanding, encouraging self-reflection and self-awareness, and providing opportunities for staff to build knowledge and skills to operate in culturall diverse environments.

Projects
Helen's minor thesis was on the topic of "Developing Intercultural Competence
in University Staff: Augmenting Internationalisation". This project involved
interviews with general staff across Deakin.
Its focus was to ascertain what is provided by the University as well as what
is required to develop intercultural competence in University general staff.
