BIO

Deakin Distinguished Professor Andrea Driscoll is the Chair in Nursing at Monash Health and Director of the Centre for Quality and Patient Safety Research, Monash Health Partnership in collaboration with Deakin University. She is also a nurse practitioner at Austin Health and holds an honorary appointment at Monash University. She is a renown international expert in cardiovascular disease.  Professor Driscoll has an established influential international program of research focusing on advanced practice nurses, nurse practitioners and system redesign to improve evidence-based practice to reduce disparities in health care. She has transformed workforce models of care through her pioneering work in nurse-led clinics.She has received several prestigious national and international awards for her research. She is currently an international fellow of American Heart Association and European Society of Cardiology, fellow of Australian College of Nurse Practitioners and fellow of Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand in recognition of her contributions to cardiovascular nursing through practice, research, and education. She was an executive committee member of the Cardiovascular Nursing Council of Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand for 10 years. She was previously a Board Director of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia where she was instrumental in the development of nurse practitioners within Victoria and endorsed the first nurse practitioner in Victoria.
