Emeritus ProfessorKim Watty

Kim Watty is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Accounting, in the Faculty of Business and Law. In her 10 years at Deakin Kim held senior leadership roles includng; Deputy Dean, A/Dean T&L, A/Dean Quality, Standards and Accreditation and Deputy Head, Accounting Economics and Finance. Kim has published widely in her area of specialisation, accounting education, both nationally and internationally and has been successful in securing in excess of $1 million in competitive research funding over the past decade. Kim was the academic lead in the Deakin Business School for initial AACSB (2016) and EQUIS (2019) accreditation.

Kim has taught both undergraduate and postgraduate students in Melbourne, Singapore and Hong Kong, and has received numerous awards for teaching excellence. During her tenure at Deakin, Kim chaired two key national accounting education committees in Australia: The Learning and Teaching Network for the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) and the Program Quality and Assurance Committee for CPA Australia. She was a Senior Editor of Accounting Education, for over a decade.

She is currenlty the CPA Australia represeantative on the IPAE (International Panel of Accountancy Education) which is part of the IFAC Committee Structure.

KIm is an AACSB mentor and PRT member and EPAS PRT member.
