BIO

Dr Shannon Sahlqvist is Course Director of the Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science and a member of the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) within the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. She is Co-Lead of the Human Health and Environmental Change focus area within the Faculty of Health's Sustainable Health Network.

Dr Sahlqvist's research focuses on understanding and influencing walking and cycling, in particular for travel. She has specific expertise in the evaluation of real-world and complex physical activity interventions.

They have led and contributed to several walking and cycling projects including the evaluation of school-based programs, the evaluation of changes to the built environment and the use of technology to promote walking and cycling.

Before commencing her appointment at Deakin (in 2012), Dr Sahlqvist was a Career Development Fellow with the Centre for Excellence in Diet and Activity Research (CEDAR), at Cambridge University, United Kingdom (2009-2012).
