BIO

I am a public health researcher specialising in harmful marketing and the commercial determinants of health. My work examines how marketing, sport sponsorship, lobbying and other industry practices influence health and wellbeing, with a particular focus on alcohol and other unhealthy commodity industries. My research is designed to generate evidence that informs policy, regulation and public health action.

A major focus of my work is the development and application of SCANNER, an AI-enabled system for monitoring harmful marketing across digital environments. I oversee SCANNER-related projects and staff across multiple commodities and funding streams, applying these methods to new public health and policy questions.

I was awarded a VicHealth Harmful Industries Fellowship (2022–2025) and I co-lead the montioring stream within the Evidence Exchange, a cross-faculty centre focused on commercial determinants of health. I also supervise research students and work closely with researchers, governments, advocacy organisations and public health agencies in Australia and internationally to support policy-relevant research and knowledge translation.

I am currently working as a Research Fellow in the Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition (GLOBE) within the Institute for Health Transformation.
