Berni Murphy is the Course Director of Deakin's Master of Public Health. She
is a Senior Lecturer in Public Health and Health Promotion in the School of
Health and Social Development, Faculty of Health, Deakin University, Melbourne
Australia. Berni has won numerous awards for her innovative approach to
teaching, most notably Deakin's Teacher of the Year, as well as a National
Australian Learning and Teaching Council award for Teaching Excellence. Berni
is the co-author of two texts: Understanding Health: A Determinants Approach
and Understanding Health Promotion, both published by Oxford University Press.
Berni specialises in Public Health, Health and Social Impact Assessment, and
Health Communication. She has a strong track record in the field managing
large scale community based health evaluation projects, and she is renowned
for her work facilitating health short courses across Australia and in
international contexts.
