Projects
2025: Gender-Sensitising Parliament Self-Assessment of the Fiji Parliament. Commissioned by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, this project evaluates how well the Fiji Parliament serves female MPs, parliamentary staff and women in the Fiji community.
2025: Independence of the Auditors-General Report 2025. Commissioned by the Australasian Council of Auditors-General, this project evaluates whether the previous method of assessing the independence of A-Gs is still fit-for-purpose; then assesses the independence of A-Gs in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and PNG.
2024-2025: Women in the Victorian Local Government Elections. Assessed the impact of the change in electoral system (from multi-member to single-member wards) had an impact on the number of women elected to Local Govenrment in the November 2024 elections.
2023-24: Standards for Parliamentary Codes of Conduct. Developed a new set of standards to guide the development of codes of conduct in 180 parliaments across the Commonwealth. Funded by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (London).
2020-2021: Transition to Life after Parliament. This was the world's most substantial study into the experiences of former parliamentarians as they transition to post-parliamentary life. The research has impacted parliamentary processes in Australia and internationally. Funded by the Parliament of Victoria and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (Vic), in conjunction with the Victorian Parliamentary Former Members Association.
2018-2022: Jean Monnet Comparative Network on Refugee Externalisation Policies (CONREP). International, interdisciplinary examination of the scope, methods and impact of externalisation policies of Australia, the European Union and its member states. Network partners include the University of Melbourne, Deakin University, Monash University, University of Geneva, University of Bologna, and University of Gothenberg. Co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme - Jean Monnet Activities (599660 EPP-1-2018-1-AU-EPPJMO-NETWORK).
