RESEARCH INTERESTS

Tony is currently collaborating on three main research projects all of which involve sports history.

With Bob Gartland OAM, Tony is currently writing a history of the Geelong Football Club.

With Scott Talpey (La Trobe) he is researching how popular public memory of major sporting events and iconic sporting identities can become distorted over time. This project will culminate in a co-authored volume in the Remembering the Modern World book series from Routledge.

And finally, with David Lowe and Bob Gartland OAM, Tony co-leads Geelong's Sporting Life, a novel project that is capturing on film a record of how sport shapes and reflects our local community. We are running this project in partnership with the Geelong Football Club, Kardinia Park Stadium Trust, the Geelong Sports Museum, and the Barwon Sports Academy.
