BIO

Julian Berk is a postdoctoral research fellow at Deakin University’s Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute (A2I2). His research primarily focuses on leveraging AI-driven algorithms to accelerate research and development, with an emphasis on applied Bayesian optimization (BO) and multi-armed bandits. As one of A2I2's leading application experts in Bayesian optimization, Dr. Berk has contributed to the development of BO tools across various projects spanning materials design, mental health, and armor design. He has collaborated with numerous industry partners, including The Black Dog Institute, Ford, and the Defence Science and Technology Group.
