BIO

Associate Professor Patricia Nicholson is a nationally respected clinician, academic and researcher with expertise in perioperative nursing, higher education and midwifery. Her interdisciplinary research is focused on patient safety in the operating suite, midwifery practice and teaching and learning in higher education. Associate Professor Nicholson has experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including the use of Rasch Modeling.

Pat is the School of Nursing and Midwifery Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Director and a member of the Quality and Patient Safety Strategic Research Centre and Institute of Health Transformation, Deakin University.  


Associate Professor Nicholson is a Fellow of the Australian College of Perioperative Nurses and Honorary Life member of the Victorian Perioperative Nurses Group. In 2014 she was invited to present the Judith Cornell Oration at the Australian College of Perioperative Nurses National Conference and was awarded the Australian College of Perioperative Nurses Individual Excellence in Perioperative Nursing in 2016.
