TEACHING EXPERTISE

My teaching focuses on preparing educators to exercise sound professional judgement within complex and demanding education systems. I teach primarily in initial teacher education and professional learning contexts, developing educators’ capacity to make ethical, relational, and context-sensitive decisions under institutional, policy, and technological pressures. My approach integrates theory, practice, and professional responsibility. I design learning experiences that foreground judgement rather than compliance, supporting students to understand how power, accountability, trauma, and time shape teaching and learning in practice. This includes explicit attention to child safety, trauma-informed practice, and professional ethics as forms of situated decision-making. I employ pedagogies that support critical reflection, collaborative learning, and professional dialogue, and I design assessment tasks that develop students’ capacity to justify decisions, respond to uncertainty, and act with care. Across my teaching, I aim to prepare educators capable of sustaining ethical practice and professional agency within contemporary education systems.
