TEACHING EXPERTISE
I teach in the Bachelor of Arts, chairing two units in the Sociology major:
*AST205 Sport, Bodies, Action!
*ASC300 Gender, Media & Society.
I also teach into the Sociology first year program ASC102 Introduction to Sociology: The Sociology of Everyday Life.
I welcome supervision inquires from prospective doctoral students working in the knowledge areas of gender, feminism, media, new technologies, sport and leisure. When contacting me, please include a CV, academic record and a short proposal about the research you want to do, following the instructions for applying for a PhD at Deakin.
The PhD projects I supervise are centrally concerned with gender identity, relations and politics. As a supervisor, I bring expertise in project management, deep knowledge of feminist theory and methodological skills in qualitative research and textual analysis.
I have many years experience as an honours and PhD supervisor. My students have been awarded the Stan van Hooft Honours Prize and The Humanities and Social Sciences Honours Thesis Prize by the Faculty of Arts & Education, Deakin University, and The Australian Sociological Association top honours thesis award.
