BIO
Associate Professor Katherine Livingstone is a member of the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) at Deakin. She is a National Health and Medical Research Council Emerging Leadership Fellow.
Associate Professor Livingstone has over 15 years experience leading a research program in dietary patterns, cardiometabolic health and personalised nutrition. Positioned in the top 0.06% of global researchers with expertise in diet (expertscape.com), her multi-disciplinary expertise spans nutritional epidemiology, behavioural nutrition and web-based dietary interventions.
Associate Professor Livingstone has over 10,000 citations and a h-index of 46 (Google Scholar). She has been Chief Investigator on national and international grants totalling over $1.6 million. Associate Professor Livingstone has supervised 5 PhD students to completion and currently supervises 4 PhD students.
Associate Professor Livingstone sits on the Australian Academy of Science National Committee for Nutrition, co-chairs the International Union of Nutritional Sciences Precision Nutrition Task Force, is a Director with the Australian Nutrition Trust Fund and is Secretary for the International Society for Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity Young Adult Special Interest Group. She was previously the Honorary Editor for the Nutrition Society of Australia.
Associate Professor Livingstone completed her PhD in 2013 in the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences, University of Reading, UK. She was subsequently appointed as Research Associate in the Institute for Ageing and Health, Newcastle University, UK. Since joining Deakin University in May 2015, she has held an Endeavour Research Fellowship and an Alfred Deakin Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, has worked as a Lecturer in Population Nutrition and currnetly holds an NHMRC Investigator Grant.
