BIO
I studied at the University of Sydney, majoring in chemistry and pure
mathematics, and with the equivalent of a minor in law. PhD research was in
theoretical/computational chemistry. This was followed by a postdoctoral
fellowship at Stanford University as an Archbishop Mannix Travelling Scholar.
After a brief stint at Goteborgs Universitet, there were lecturerships at
Univerity of New England and University of Melbourne. I joined Deakin
University in 1996.
Starting from an initial research interest in gas phase reaction dynamics and
kinetics (physical and theoretical chemistry), my interests have evolved to
analystical chemistry, various aspects of teaching and learning, forensic chemistry, and Scouting.
I am no longer supervising graduate students nor employing postdoctoral fellows.
