BIO

Associate Professor Subhadra Evans Leads the Mind–Body Research in Health (MiRth) Laboratory in the Deakin Lifespan Institute. She completed her PhD in Developmental Psychology at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and undertook postdoctoral training at Brunel University London and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She also completed specialist training through the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH) in mind–body medicine and behavioural interventions for chronic pain. Her research focuses on the development, evaluation and implementation of behavioural, psychological and lifestyle interventions to improve health and wellbeing across the lifespan, with a particular focus on women’s reproductive health, chronic pain and mental health.

 

Associate Professor Evans co-leads a series of Australian Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) clinical trials, including: CoDeEndo—a co-designed digital model of care for endometriosis integrating evidence-based self-management and psychological support; HaPPI—a randomised controlled trial evaluating cognitive behavioural therapy and yoga to improve quality of life in women with endometriosis; REST—a randomised controlled trial evaluating e-hypnotherapy and relaxation for chronic pelvic pain; and CAYAC—a digital mental health program to improve access to evidence-based psychological and lifestyle support for young people with inflammatory bowel disease and their caregivers.
