BIO
Dr Bipasha Kashyap is a Lecturer in Mechatronics Engineering at Deakin University and Deputy Director of the NSBE Research Lab. Her work spans artificial intelligence, biomedical speech processing and clinical translation, with a focus on clinically useful technologies for neurological speech and movement disorders.
Before joining academia, she worked as an Applied Machine Learning Research Engineer at Deakin, contributing to medical-grade assistive technologies, cloud-based machine-learning deployment pipelines and the BioKin AIMs speech and movement assessment system.
Dr Kashyap completed her PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Deakin in 2021 as a CSIRO Data61 scholar. Her laboratory's speech-processing methods are embedded in the BioKin AIMs medical-grade assessment devices, now used across 26 clinics on four continents by more than 1,000 patients within the UNIFAI clinical consortium.
She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK, and recipient of the veski Inspiring Women Victorian Fellowship. Her collaborators include leading universities, hospitals, research institutes and industry partners across Australia, Europe, Japan, Israel and the USA.
