BIO
Eve Mayes is an Associate Professor in Education (Pedagogy and Curriculum), living and working on unceded Wadawurrung Country. Her research is located at the intersections of the sociology of education and youth, social movement studies & curriculum inquiry. Eve's research agenda is shaped by the critical tradition of educational sociology, revolving around questions of voice, power & injustice, & the role of formal & informal education in social transformations. Methodologically, she seeks to facilitate participatory research with young people across mainstream school settings, cultural institutions & social movements. Her work focuses on: 1) young people's vernacular analyses of lived experiences of interconnected environmental, social & educational injustices, 2) everyday activism(s) in and beyond educational spaces, & 3) the possibilities of justice-oriented (climate) education across & between mainstream & informal educational spaces.
