TEACHING EXPERTISE
A/Prof Gates supervises and mentors a number of PhD research candidates and participates in multiple research projects undertaken by students..
He imparts his expertice in getotechniques, geochemistry, the application of various research instrumentation to the study of poorly crystalline minerals and materials (e,g,, FTIR, TGA, XRD, INS, XAS) and wet-chemical methods (acid digestion, titrations) as part of PhD training.
