BIO
I’m committed to inclusive practice, equitable access, and translating research into tangible benefits for communities, clinicians, and health systems. My research leverages digital health technologies to help more people access high-quality exercise and behaviour change interventions to manage chronic health conditions. I'm in the top 0.085% of global telemedicine experts, and the top 2% in telerehabilitation. I use exercise, behaviour change, computer, and implementation sciences to design innovative interventions, test their benefits in experimental studies, and translate them into real-world practice. I'm also interested in democratising research intellectual property, so promising digital health innovations can make it into medical and consumer markets to realise large-scale benefits.
I am looking to partner with consumers, health professionals and healthcare providers to co-create research that meets real-world needs, and translates into tangible benefits for health and wellbeing, healthcare delivery, and value-for-money healthcare spending.
I co-developed a world-first exercise telerehabilitation program that connects consumers with remotely located rehabilitation professionals to receive real-time coaching during exercise training, from any internet-connected location on earth. The platform has been adopted and trialled by researchers and health services to help people with heart disease and several types of cancer in Australia, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. This research program has been supported funding organisations in New Zealand (Auckland Medical Research Foundation), Australia (National Health and Medical Research Foundation, National Heart Foundation, National Breast Cancer Foundation) and United Kingdom (National Institute for Health and Care Research).
I am a key collaborator in the ConnectUp project (www.connectup.org.au), a national MRFF-funded initiative which partners with Carers WA, Carers Australia, and several peak and community disability organisations to enhance social, physical, and mental health and wellbeing for carers and people with disability.
A snapshot of research achievements (see tabs above for more details)

I am an active committee member and treasurer of the Australian Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Association - Victoria and Tasmania Inc. In this role, I created a grant funding scheme to drive improvements in cardiovascular health care (including rehabilitation) by supporting ongoing professional development and service quality improvement. I also co-led the preparation of a joint position statement on telehealth in cardiovascular care for the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand and the Australian Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Association.
I work closely Australian and global universities to advance my research (e.g., University of Melbourne, Australia; Hull York Medical School at the University of Hull, United Kingdom; University Hospital of Umeå at Umeå University, Sweden), and have an extensive global collaboration network.
