BIO

Dr Harries is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Deakin University in Victoria, Australia, and is a member of the Lifespan Institute and Centre for Research on Relationships, Trauma, Addiction, and Aggression. His research area is family violence, with a specific focus on child-to-parent violence (adolescent family violence) and parent-directed aggression. His research explores the family conditions which predispose and perpetuate child-to-parent violence, with an emphasis on dynamic risk factors which can be modified through formal intervention. He also works in the intimate partner violence space, understanding how early life experiences (including child-to-parent violence) contribute to the experience of partner violence in adulthood.

Dr Harries works closely with clinical services to translate research into practice, understand clinical need, and evaluate programs for reducing family violence and parent-directed aggression.
