TEACHING EXPERTISE

Dr Gayani Karunasena is a Fellow of the Advanced Higher Education, recognised for her commitment to teaching excellence and student-centred learning. She creates inclusive and engaging learning environments that foster critical thinking, collaboration, and professional capability.

 

Her teaching focuses on the quantity surveying discipline, integrating real-world industry practice to prepare students for contemporary challenges in the built environment. She teaches across core areas such as: 

 

  • Building Measurement and Estimating
  • Construction Procurement
  • Contract Administration
  • cost planning
  • Quantity Surveying Practices (Value Management, Life Cycle Costing, Property Tax Depreciation)
  • Research supervision

 

As Campus Coordinator for Construction Management (Burwood), she contributes to curriculum development and student success, with a strong focus on mentoring and developing industry-ready graduates.
