TEACHING EXPERTISE
Teaching and Supervision
Professor Mikocka-Walus is an experienced university educator and research supervisor and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), with formal postgraduate training in academic practice. She has extensive teaching experience across health psychology, behavioural medicine, chronic illness and mental health, with a strong emphasis on translating psychological science into healthcare and clinical practice.
She has taught and led undergraduate and postgraduate units and contributed to curriculum development, quality assurance and the delivery of psychology programs across Australian and international university settings. Her broader educational leadership has included research training, academic mentoring and the development of initiatives supporting higher degree research students and early- and mid-career academics.
Professor Mikocka-Walus has supervised 26 doctoral and professional psychology research candidates, including 20 completions and six current candidates, as well as 12 Masters and 44 Honours students. Her supervision emphasises the development of independent researchers, methodological rigour, publication and dissemination skills, collaboration, and research with meaningful clinical and societal impact.
