DrVirginia Hagger

Dr Virginia Hagger is a senior lecturer and the course director for the Graduate Certificate of Diabetes Education in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Deakin University. She is a registered nurse and credentialled diabetes educator, with extensive experience in clinical care, management and research related to the education and care of people with diabetes.

Virginia's research interests include structured self-management education, diabetes distress and psychological wellbeing, and diabetes education workforce development. She has led and collaborated with national and international investigators to develop and evaluate structured education and behaviour change interventions among people with diabetes and pre-diabetes, including adults with type 2 diabetes, women with previous gestational diabetes, adults and adolescents living with type 1 diabetes.
