BIO
I am a material scientist with experience in both academic and industry research in Australia and France. My background is in the areas of polymer and material science as well as their characterisation and processing technologies. I have worked extensively with industry to develop new materials from conception to industry-ready prototype, which gives me a unique perspective of the challenges in translating materials research into commercial applications.
I currently work with within the Future Fibres Hub and Marine Bioproducts CRC, as well as other projects with Sustainability Victoria. My research is aimed at improving the sustainability of textiles, both in researching ways to use more sustainable material inputs such as seaweed, as well as recycling of post-consumer waste where our separation technology aims to fill a significant gap in current textile recycling capability. There are a lot of unique challenges in developing materials and technologies that are scalable and applicable to the wider industry, and we aim to address some of the key issues facing the textile industry from both a material and end-of-life perspective.
