BIO
Professor Nicole Kiss leads a research program to improve the recognition and management of cancer-related muscle loss and malnutrition. She is the lead investigator of the Establishing Pathways to Improved Care for Cancer-related Sarcopenia (EPICCS) research program, which is delivering a screening tool for cancer-related sarcopenia and integrating it into clinical practice across health services and policy: https://deakin.edu.au/epiccs. Nicole has been awarded >$18M in competitive grant income, led the development of 2 clinical guidelines and published >100 papers. She was named a Victorian Young Tall Poppy in 2022.
Nicole is a Fellow of Dietitians Australia and a clinician academic specialising in nutrition and cancer. She worked in clinical practice and health service leadership positions for 20 years prior to moving to academia. She is Deputy Director of the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) and co-leads the Exercise and Nutrition for Cancer research group within IPAN.
