BIO
Dr Lilia Convit is an Exercise Scientist (Hons) and Sports Dietitian with expertise in thermoregulation, hydration, and women’s performance physiology. Her research has examined hydration and cooling strategies to improve thermoregulation and exercise performance in female endurance athletes, with a focus on menstrual cycle-related hormonal influences on fluid balance and heat tolerance.
Grounded in applied sport and environmental physiology, Lilia’s work combines controlled laboratory trials with real-world field studies to develop practical hydration and cooling strategies for athletes and heat-exposed workers. Within the Deakin THERMAL Lab, her work involves controlled heat-exposure protocols, environmental chamber testing, physiological monitoring, and the evaluation of clothing ensembles and protective garments during work and exercise in hot conditions. This includes examining core temperature, skin temperature, cardiovascular strain, perceptual responses, sweat losses, and hydration-related outcomes to better understand how environmental and clothing-related factors influence heat strain and tolerance.
Lilia is an ISAK Level 3 Anthropometrist and instructor with extensive expertise in DXA body composition assessment. She also teaches across exercise and nutrition sciences, bringing a strong focus on applied learning and the translation of research into real-world practice to support women in sport and health.
Research Groups: Lilia is a member of the Deakin Centre for Sport Research (CSR) within the Deakin Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN), the Female Physiology and Performance Group (FPP) and Women in Sports and Exercise (WISE).
