Expertise Summary
Professor Grossman is an internationally recognised expert in terrorism and
violent extremism studies, with a particular focus on how communities
contribute to addressing and countering violent extremist ideologies,
narratives and networks and on building multi-systemic resilience to violent
extremism. Her research on improving barriers to community reporting on
terrorism has been widely replicated internationally, influencing policy and
programming in Australia, the United Kingdom, the USA and Canada. She is an
Associate Editor of the leading journal in terrorism studies, Terrorism and
Political Violence, and serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of
Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism, as well as serving on a wide
range of national and international advisory boards and bodies. Prior to her
involvement in terrorism studies, Professor Grossman focused on Indigenous
Australian cultural studies, publishing two books and a range of scholarly
articles in this field.
