BIO

Dr Olumuyiwa (Muyiwa) Omonaiye is a Research Fellow at Deakin University-
Eastern Health partnership. Muyiwa is a pharmacist, academic and researcher
who has unique expertise with intersectional healthcare (e.g., working with
people who intersect low-income/low education, disability and
culturally/linguistically diverse backgrounds) and extensive experience in
medication adherence and medication safety in chronic disease conditions
particularly in vulnerable and marginalised populations.
Muyiwa research is also focused on factors that influence the health of
population groups or whole population. It addresses health outcomes, health
determinants, policies and interventions that link the two. His research also
examines access to, and the use of health services.
In 2021, Muyiwa was appointed a Visiting Scholar with the Senghor Research
Chair in Health and Development at the University of Ottawa, Canada. Muyiwa is
member of several National and International Organisations including the
Public Health Association of Australia, where he serves as a committee member
for the Special Interest Group on International Health, International Society
of Pharmacoepidemiology, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Muyiwa
was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health (UK) in 2021. He
also actively participates in the editorial boards of international
publications like Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy and BMC
Public Health. Additionally, Muyiwa currently serves as a Section Editor for
Health Services Insights, further solidifying his commitment to advancing the
field of healthcare research and delivery.
