BIO

As an ECR, I continue to build a track record of publishing and communicating my research. Throughout and since completing my PhD, I have regularly presented aspects of my research to a variety of both academic and non-academic audiences.

My PhD thesis, titled “Making a mission space: Milingimbi Methodist Mission, 1923–1943” is a detailed study of the opening decades of the mission and advent of Methodist missionary presence in the Arnhem Land region.

This research contributes to recent historical scholarship on Aboriginal missions in Australia, which recognise missions as complicated spaces where Indigenous peoples exercised agency amidst inequitable power relations. this work also reflects my experience of engaging directly with community members to understand context and significance of archival collections and as such,  has been commended as ‘an important intervention in terms of its implications for ongoing truth and reconciliation processes in Australia and beyond’ .
